My favourites?

I love all their songs. That said, after BCSL I've not followed their releases at all. :/ I have music playing as I type. A quick list of my most favorite songs from their repertoire you ask? Here goes :

Seven

Its been a good 5+ years since I've written on this blog. And its good to be back. A lot has happened in these past years, and today in the 7th year since I opened this blog, Dream Theater has transformed from an obsession into a way of life.

My first tattoo - The Letter D and Dream Theater's Logo \m/

On 30th December, 2012 I got this lovely piece of art inked. I carry DT with me where ever I go. The biggest take away for me from Dream Theater has been ' Seize the Day'. Its helped me be more open, frank and upfront where my opinions are concerned, no matter which walk of life it may relate to. For tomorrow who knows, I may never be around. 

Thank you Dream Theater for becoming such a powerful force in my life. I love you guys :)

Wither revisited

This is my second reference to their song Wither from the album Black Clouds and Silver Linings.

I guess this song moves up a lot of notches on my list of favorite songs from DT's stable :)

My First DT CD

Haha.. so 2010 has kicked in and what better to begin the New Year than to have a sweetheart in your life? :) It also has been a super ending to 2009.. what with the wedding happening too !! :)

But hey, the icing you ask?? A Dream Theater greatest hits CD gifted by Shreyas to me at the wedding reception..complete with the wrapping bearing their band logo :D
So here's to the DT madness scaling new highs and to continued playing of their melodies both dark and light. :) \m/ 2010.. here I come.

I've listened to this song at a point in time where my heart was truly messed up. And it just rocks you to sleep and soothes away those worry lines threatening to permanently line your heart. I must say, the lyrics and the soulful music is a much needed panacea.

Today commemorates my blog's 3rd anniversary and I can't believe the madness is still going strong. To many more years of continued dedication. Cheers!!

Love you Dream Theater and thank you for being such an influential force in my life. For being the proverbial silver lining in a life which was like a dark cloud. You rock. \m/

The Best of times

Okay, this is one song that I can relate to and Mike Portnoy as well.

This song is a dedication to Portnoy's dad who passed away after a battle with cancer. He relives their best moments together through this song. I relate to the part where he shares some special moments with his dad and the battle too. I've got a cancer hero here too, with whom every moment shared is special in its own sweet way. :)

Love the best of times. Period.

Shattered

..in a good way of course. :)

I'm referring to the 'Shattered Fortress'. Man, does the song start blow me away or what?! Beautiful. 'This dying soul' has been amongst my favourites and to see a piece of it forming part of the song start in BCSL was nothing short of offering a candy bar to a child. Waaay to go DT! \m/


The twelve step AA which Mike concludes with this song, is indeed a lesson for all to learn from. For more info, please read DT's biography. Will give a lot of insight into the AA journey of Mike's.
